How To Make Your Own Soft Horse Treats – Budget Equestrian DIY

Most horses enjoy treats, and most horse owners enjoying giving a treat to their horses. But most horse treats that you buy are really hard, which can be difficult for horses with dental issues to chew. So I decided to make a recipe for soft horse treats, especially for my horse Plezant. And you know what? He loves them! They are soft enough I can break them apart and he can easily eat them.
SO Here is the recipe!
Soft Horse Treat Recipe
4 cups ground flax (I used Triple Crown Ground Golden Flax)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 Tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup molasses
1 cup applesauce

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Mix all of the ingredients in a big bowl ( it mixes up really easy) then spoon the batter into greased mini muffin cups.
Bake the treats for about 20 to 25 minutes then remove the treats from the pan and allow to fully cool before packing into a container.
This recipe will make around 40 mini horse treats, and they will keep for around month or so very well. Keep them in an airtight container to keep them soft, and easy to tear apart to give to your horse.
Happy horse treat baking!
